Fourth Trimester

What is the fourth trimester?

The term ‘fourth trimester’ refers to the period immediately after your baby’s birth. It is used to describe the adjustment period your newborn may experience after birth. Many believe it explains typical newborn behaviour such as wanting to be held and carried, seeking comfort and security, and general fretfulness.

Parents may need extra support during the fourth trimester, so that they can help their baby to adjust. We can help nurture you through this time – learn more about our support services below.
